Workshop Details

In this half day workshop artist Mary-Ann will show you how to create a beautiful butterfly with silk wings.

Although the end result often looks like it could be real, your butterfly needn’t be realistic. In fact you will be positively encouraged to explore your own imagination for colour schemes as you learn how to paint butterfly wings on pre-treated silk.

Mary-Ann  will then lead you in the methods she uses to create the butterfly’s body, complete with antenna and tiny eyes. You will be given the option to add a brooch pin to your finished butterfly or it can be used as a decoration.

You will will be offered a range of different designs and size wing patterns to choose from, so the finished size of your butterfly will vary.

Although no previous experience is required it is recommended that you are used to being creative and comfortable with working in detail particularly with a paint brush and with needle and thread.

All tools and materials will be provided but you may like to bring along your own scissors and sewing kit.

Terms and Conditions
*Class size is limited to eight students.
*Under 16’s must be accompanied by a participating, paying adult.
*Cancellations can be made up to six weeks before the date of the workshop.
Please email me directly at maryann@concordiasworld.com to give written notice of cancellation; you will then be issued a full refund. If you need to cancel within the six-week window before the workshop, a refund can only be offered if I am able to fill your space on the workshop.
*If for any reason I (the host) need to cancel the workshop, you will be informed as soon as is possible. An alternative date will be offered, in the event an alternative date cannot be arranged or agreed a full refund will be offered.
*Bookings are not automatically transferable to another workshop.
*Please note that I retain the intellectual property rights to the creative concepts taught in my workshops – you cannot go into business making, selling or exhibiting copies of my work. You cannot go on to run similar workshops using the techniques I have taught you or facilitating the production of work that is similar to my own. You may only utilise the techniques and concepts I teach for your personal use. Any infringement of these rights will be taken seriously and legal action will be implemented.
